KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – This will be the last weekend of freedom for area public school children, and there are a couple of major events planned to help their transition back to school.
Both of them are on Saturday.
Kalamazoo Public Schools spokesperson Susan Coney says there’s one for families and one that’s more aimed at teens, the Back to School Jam.
The other gathering is sponsored by the Northside Ministerial Alliance and also doubles as an anti-gun violence event.
Superintendent Darrin Slade thanked the community for all its events, and efforts to make sure that kids are ready at the end of summer to get back to class.
He says no one does back-to-school better than Kalamazoo.
Monday morning, the school year will begin with a half day for KPS.
