  • Taylor Can't Take A Joke

    Posted by Kim Brixton

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the Golden Globes and joked about Taylor Swift’s many romances.

Swift has since responded by suggesting that they “go to hell” along with the other “mean girls.”

During the awards show, Tina Fey joked that the 23-year-old singer should “stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son,” with a suggestion that she could use “some 'me time' to learn about herself."

Swift didn't find the joke very funny, though.

During an interview, Swift said, “You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people, because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved, that said,‘There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.’ ”

When asked to respond to the statement, Poehler said:

"Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist, and she is a young and talented girl."

"That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff."

Spring is just around the corner and every year, downtown celebrates spring with art, music and locally owned businesses with the Spring into the Arts art walk!  Are you an artist looking to gain exposure in Southwest Michigan through displaying your work or performing?  Are you able to adapt to unique venues to showcase your work?   Each spring, artists from Battle Creek to Scotland express artistic notions in partnership with downtown businesses and it’s time to plan this year’s event, scheduled for Friday, May 17.  Past events have included photography, clay, fabric, mixed media, watercolor as well as street musicians, theatre, sidewalk chalk, photography booths, wearable art, spoken word and interactive art.

  • The Worm Is In North Korea

    Posted by Kim Brixton

Dennis Rodman may not come across as the most natural choice for a sports star turned American diplomat, but North Korea apparently begs to differ. Rodman has traveled to Pyongyang along with three Harlem Globetrotters and a documentary film crew for some basketball exhibitions and, the film company hopes, an audience with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who is said to be a devoted basketball fan.
