Evanston, IL (WKZO) – Before Saturday night’s contest with the Northwestern Wildcats, the Western Michigan men’s basketball had been averaging over 75 points per game. But tonight the Broncos made just 10 field goals and lost to the Wildcats 51-35 at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Shayne Whittington and David Brown were the only Broncos (5-3) to reach double figures with 12 and 10, respectively. As a team WMU shot only 24.4% (10-41) from the field and missed 14 of 15 three-point attempts.
Drew Crawford had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Wildcats (5-5), which held a 24-12 lead at halftime and led by as much as 20 in the second half.
Game Notes: Whittington had a game high 10 rebounds…The Broncos bench didn’t score until Hayden Hoerdemann made a free throw with 18 seconds left in the game…Northwestern shot just 32.7% (18-55)…Brown shot 3 of 15 and missed all six three point attempts before fouling out with less than a minute left in the game…The Broncos are now off for eight days before taking on the Missouri Tigers on Sunday December 15th at 7pm in Columbia, Missouri.
