Denver, CO (WKZO) – For the third straight game, the Western Michigan University Hockey team blew a two goal lead and lost to the University of Denver 5-3.
WMU jumped out to a 2-0 goal after a first period goal from Shane Berschbach and then a second period goal from Justin Kovacs 4:59 into the period. The wheels quickly fell off for the Broncos after then.
Denver scored four straight goals in less than six minutes to close out the second with a 4-2 lead.
Josh Pitt’s third goal of the season cut the lead in half at 4-3 but Denver added an insurance goal two minutes later.
Frank Slubowski made 29 saves on 34 shots. Kovacs finished with three points.
