COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. -- Western Michigan’s Jordan Oesterle has been named National Collegiate Hockey Conference Defenseman of the Week for his performance in WMU’s
weekend sweep over Colorado College.
Oesterle (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Sioux Falls, USHL) netted the game-tying goal late in the first period in Friday’s come-from-behind win in overtime. He also helped shutout the
Tigers on six power plays and blocked three shots while finishing with a +1 plus/minus rating.
On Saturday the junior blue-liner assisted on WMU’s final goal of the game but once again helped the Bronco penalty kill unit shutout CC, holding them scoreless on four power plays.
Oesterle finished +2 on the night and blocked two additional shots.
His two-point weekend extended a personal-best point streak to four games in which he has one goal and four assists. During his run the Broncos have also posted a 3-0-1 record.
Oesterle and the rest of the Western Michigan hockey team are back in action later this weekend hosting Northern Michigan on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. Saturday is
“Military Appreciation Night” and the team is pairing up with the WMU Office of Military and Veteran Affairs to collect donations for holiday care packages.
