American Red Cross in Battle Creek on Beadle Lake Road will hold a blood drive from 9a-6pm. It's in remembrance of 9/11 and to honor all service men and women.
Wings Stadium will be the location of a stair climb intended to memoralize the 343 firefighters that were killed in the line of duty on 9-11-2001. The event starts at 9am. A donation of $25 is requested. The proceeds benefit THE NATIONAL FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS FOUNDATION. Call 226-0384 for more information.
A memorial service to honor police, fire and rescue personnel is set to begin at 1 p.m. today at the Overlander Bandshell, 7810 Shaver Road in Portage. The event is coordinated by First Reformed Church of Portage and Portage Free Methodist Church, in conjunction with The Portage Department of Public Safety. The Rev. Clayton Smith, a former firefighter from New Brunswick, New Jersey, will speak. An ice cream social will follow at 3 p.m.
The Yellow Ribbon Committee of Battle Creek will hold a 9/11 remembrance event tonight at McCamly Park beginning at 6pm. The program being presented, The Legacy, will recognize and be dedicated to all Americans, the service of veterans of all eras and the community's Gold Star families. There will be several speakers featured, as well as a performance by The Cereal City Concert Band.
