More on Transplants Posted May 18, 2012 by Jimmy C

Praise the Lord things are progressing very nicely. Thursday I started phase three of pulmonary rehab with the wonderful folks at Oaklawn Hospital. Nate, Kathy and Heather are great and have helped me keep my lungs functioning as well as possible.  Phase three is a maintenance program to keep up my strength for the surgery. Dr. Lama and Jerry, (a transplant patient, seven years post transplant who we met at my last doctor’s appointment), say it is very important for the success of surgery. I will be going two days a week from now until my surgery.

And more good news, I have been accepted by the National Foundation for Transplants. They are an organization that helps transplant patients raise money for expenses not covered by insurance.

They have provided me with my own page for donations on their site and will be working with us through this process.  Please check out both pages find out about this wonderful organization.

I’ll have more updates soon so please be sure to check back often, and check out our Prayer list , Home Town Hero’s, and events calendar here as well.

God Bless

Our Journey to a Lung Transplant Posted May 8, 2012 by Jimmy C

Hi everyone, as you might remember, last year at about this time I was hospitalized with pneumonia and sent to the University of Michigan hospital for treatment. This hospitalization set in motion a journey for my family that I want to share and bring you along, since you all are a part of our family.  And I want to share what we have learned as well, so maybe we can help anyone who might be going through their own health issues.

As we go through this journey I believe you will be able to see the hand of the Lord moving and directing our path. And I believe I will have a very powerful testimony of God’s grace and love for his children. I know my faith has increased greatly with every Doctor’s appointment and test result that we have received so far.

All along our way I’ll be introducing you to some of the wonderful people and organizations we’ve had the pleasure of meeting. I’ll be posting updates and giving you information to keep you in step as we go, so be sure to check back often.  I will also be posting links for you to find more information.

We are now going through the process for me to receive a double lung transplant. And what a process it is. But first, a little history of my personal illness, the pneumonia was in both of my lungs and pretty severe. I was put on very strong antibiotics and oxygen, and after I was discharged I went to see a pulmonologist.

Dr Lama ordered s cat-scan and the results showed a diagnosis of Pulmonary Fibrosis and Emphysema.  I’ll have more to post later on, there is so much information I want to give, but all of it at once can be overwhelming. So as I said before be sure to check back often.

God Bless.
