KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO)-- The Western Michigan Broncos hosted a scrimmage which allowed Head Coach Bill Cubit and the public in attendance to get a glimpse of whats to come this season.
Minus the first play of the game where quarterback, Alex Carder threw a small swing pass to Jordan White that went 97 yards, the defensive unit showed flashes of brilliance Thursday afternoon at Waldo stadium.
Former running back, Aaron Winchester played exclusively on the defensive side of the ball Thursday, and while he was the defender on Jordan White the first play of the game, Winchester bounced back nicely to break up two passes later on in the scrimmage.
Senior Linebacker, Mitch Zajac recovered a fumble. One of the more memorable came when Dervon Wallace, blanketed Jesse York, on a slant route, tipped the pass in the air and intercepted it. Wallace would go on to return the interception 45 yards for the touchdown . All in all, the defense created three turnovers.
The Broncos resume practice Saturday, at 3:30 p.m.
