MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - Wisconsin had a record number of new foreclosure cases in March. According to state court filings gathered by Dane County Market.Com, 2,870 new foreclosure cases were filed last month. That’s up 7 percent from the previous March. And it’s up from the record high of 2,757 foreclosure cases in July of last year.
Just over 7,850 cases were filed from January through March against those who couldn’t keep up with their mortgages. That’s up 4 percent from the same quarter a year ago. Dane County, which includes the Madison area, had its 2nd highest number of foreclosures ever in March. The Dane County Market site listed 180 new cases last month, up from 127 in March of ’09.
