UNDATED (WKZO) -- In case you were busy this weekend, the state’s Democrats convened in Detroit, and the Republicans in East Lansing to pick the rest of their slates. The Democrats picked Jocelyn Benson to be their candidate for Secretary of State and Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton as their candidate for Attorney General.

The Republicans picked Oakland Co. Clerk Ruth Johnson, over Calhoun County’s Ann Norlander and Sturgis Senator Cameron Brown to be their candidate for Secretary of State and Bill Schuette will be the GOP candidate for Attorney General.

The Republican Convention was slowed by a problem establishing credentials, and there was an unexpected challenge by the Tea Party to Rick Snyder’s pick for Lt. Governor, that failed. The delays forced Snyder to cancel an appearance Saturday night in Battle Creek.
