MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - UW Hospital in Madison said none of its patients have had any symptoms of a fatal brain disease, 6 months after they had a tiny chance of being exposed. The hospital said 53 patients had operations with the same surgical instruments used on a woman who died from Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. As of a month ago, UW Hospital officials said none of the 53 patients had symptoms. Patients were told to report symptoms that included vision or walking problems. The hospital said at the time there was a very small chance – virtually none – that anyone else would get the disorder.
