(Lansing, MI)  --  The state Senate has passed a ban on sending text messages while driving.  The House has passed similar legislation and the differences will need to be ironed out before a final version can be sent to Governor Granholm for her signature.  The vote, which was 31-to-6, came on the same day the federal government banned text messaging for those driving buses and commercial vehicles.  There is also a move on Capitol Hill to ban texting while driving nationwide for all drivers.
