MARSHALL (WKZO) - They normally respond to fires and weather related disasters but The Red Cross has found a way to help in Calhoun County where a disaster of a different kind has struck. The Red Cross has set up an emergency shelter at the Marshall Activity Center for anyone who wants to escape the Benzene fumes from the oil spill. The EPA says they have tested the air, and while they say it won’t kill you, it may make you nauseas and give you a headache.
Red Cross Spokesperson Vickie Eichstadt says folks will be able to get some clean air and some comfort. Meals will be provided but folks should bring their own sheets and pillows.
