UNDATED (WKZO) -- We know Kalamazoo, Holland and Grand Rapids are all pitching the idea of becoming the Google Fiber Test Site. Topeka Kansas has renamed itself “Google”, Kansas for a month. The mayor of Duluth has humorously proposed that all first born male children be renamed Google.
Yesterday Governor Granholm traveled to California to personally meet with Google officials to request that a test site be somewhere in the state. She says no state can match the exploding technology investments in Michigan. Google wants to use fiber optics to wire up to 50-thousand homes and businesses to a 1-gigabit per second internet service.
