GRAND HAVEN (WKZO) -- A firm that ran into a hornet’s nest of opposition to a plan to put wind Turbines off the coast of Ludington, now wants to also build them about 6 miles off the coast of Ottawa County.
Scandia Wind Off Shore also wants to try to lure a plant to the area that would construct the turbines, creating about 3,000 new jobs, and injecting billions into the local economy. They made their initial presentation to local officials at an invitation only meeting at Grand Valley on Monday. Public hearings on a similar proposal to the north drew mostly opponents who didn’t want to lose their view.
