KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo’s Google Fiber Collaborative is making moves. Kalamazoo, Portage, Kalamazoo Township and Oshtemo were already part of it. Now 13 Township Supervisors have all signed on to the local drive to get Google to put their fiber pilot project in this community.

The Kalamazoo Fiber Team has also created a new website at “Kalamazoogle” to collect videos, update the public and encourage participation with 8 days left to go before all the nominations are due.

Mayor Bobby Hopewell says for better access you need gigabits, and Fiber Optic cable will satisfy the need for speed. Local organizers are urging as many local residents as possible to nominate the city. The deadline is a week from tomorrow.
