KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Congressman Bart Stupak of Michigan remains steadfast in opposing the healthcare reform measure in its current form. The Democratic congressman says he's opposed to the use of federal funds for abortion, a procedure that he says is covered in the massive overhaul bill in its current form.

However, a group of twenty-five pro-life Catholic and Evangelical leaders sent Stupak a letter this week saying that he is misreading the bill and they urged him to back the legislation.

Congressman Dale Kildee of Michigan, who had been supporting Stupak on the issue, and now announced he will vote for Healthcare Reform. Even a group representing 59-thousand Catholic Nuns is now endorsing passage and so are 600 Catholic Hospitals, although the Conference of Bishops remains opposed.
