(Detroit, MI) -- Vigils will be held throughout the Great Lakes region today to honor the 35th anniversary of the sinking of the freighter S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald. In Detroit, there will be a "lantern vigil" at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle, beginning at 4 p.m. The ship sank during a fierce storm in Lake Superior on this date in 1975, taking all 29 men aboard with it.
