KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Classes don’t start until next Tuesday but the learning has already begun for first year students at WMU, and it may be the most valuable lessons they get their freshman year.
Next week they will begin learning how to be engineers, business majors and teachers, this week they are learning how to be college students…
They will be put through a series of social and academic experiences that will teach them how to get around campus, how to juggle work, play and family and how to set their priorities.
This morning they will attend a matriculation ceremony, formally greeting them to the university. WMU President John Dunn and Kalamazoo Mayor Bobby Hopewell will speak, staff will wear their academic robes and students will take a pledge to try their utmost to succeed. .The students will then be invited to meet informally with professors and eat Pizza in the Plaza.
