KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- It was a somber Kalamazoo City Commission meeting as Mayor Bobby Hopewell announced that Terry Kuseske’s name would be called on the roll call but just marked as absent. The City’s newest commissioner died last week after a fight with cancer. Commissioners paid tribute to his contributions last night.
Kuseske, a retired teacher and the first openly gay man to run for and win a city commission seat, once served on the Cass County board before moving to Kalamazoo. Visitation is set for 5PM this Thursday at the Unity Church on Whites Road in Kalamazoo. A Memorial service will follow at 6:30.
