WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Marathon County's executive committee formally rejected a merger of the county's Human Resources department with the City of Wausau. The county had already said it would not approve changes to the agreement that Mayor Jim Tipple requested. Talks may reopen next year.
The county is also considering a broader government cooperation plan. Several committee members say they'd like to consider contracting H-R services to any town or village in the Marathon County. There could be greater cost savings if other municipalities are involved
