COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Branch County authorities say speed and alcohol were factors in a single car rollover accident early today in California Township that left the driver trapped in the wreckage for about a half an hour. Sheriff’s Deputies say 56-year old Layman Altizer of Montgomery, Michigan survived the crash probably because he was wearing a seat belt.
His late model Chevy Impala was totaled out after it hit several trees and flipped, landing upside down along Southern Road, west of Fremont Road.Fremont,Indianafiremen used their Jaws of Life to extricate Altizer, who was admitted to the Community Health Center of Branch County with what were described as non-life threatening injuries. The accident was reported to 9-1-1 at around 3 o’clock this morning.
