ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) - A Branch County man is reported to be in custody as a suspect in a bank robbery that happened around Noon Friday at the Wells Fargo Bank in Angola. Forty-three-year old Charles Hartsell Austin of Quincy was booked into the Steuben County Jail late yesterday afternoon on a charge of robbery.

A news release from Angola City Police said a man entered the bank on North Wayne Street yesterday and wrote a note, giving it to the teller, who gave him an undisclosed amount of money and he then fled the building. It’s believed the robber next got on a bicycle and rode it to an apartment complex east of the bank near Wal Mart, after which he got into waiting car with two other occupants.

Surveillance camera images released by the Sheriff’s Department pictured the suspect as white male wearing a blue cap, dark colored coat with a gray colored hoodie underneath.

The camera also caught site of the reported getaway car. At last word, details of Austin’s arrest had not been released by Angola Police.
