ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) - The alleged Angola Wells Fargo Bank robber from Coldwater was in court Monday to be formally charged in connection with last Friday’s holdup. Forty-three-year old Charles Hartsell Austin of Quincy faces a Class B felony count of robbery resulting in bodily injury.
Authorities said Austin made off with over $7,300 from the bank and on his way out the building knocked down a female employee causing minor injuries. He was arrested a few hours after the robbery near the Fremont Outlet Malls.
Court records show police were told that Austin passed a note to a teller which had the words “no bait money or you are dead”. Bond for Austinwas set at 50-thousand dollars with a pre-trial conference in Steuben Superior Court set for January 23rd with a trial scheduled for March First.
A second suspect in the case, Karl Edward McNulty of Coldwater, was taken into custody Saturday and charged with aiding in robbery.
