ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI (WKZO)  -- State Police say some of the five suspects from a potentially violent group that was making and distributing meth in the White Pigeon Area, will be formally charged today.

The group also allegedly had a sniper keep watch of the residence where meth was being manufactured, with orders to shoot any law enforcement officers that turned up at the site.  The Michigan State Police South West Narcotics Enforcement Team got information from an interview from a confidential source about the drug ring.

In a coordinated response overnight into Wednesday morning, four suspects, including the intended sniper, were arrested during traffic stops as they left the residence.  A fifth suspect was arrested right out of his bed.  A search turned up meth, marijuana, several rifles, and a handgun.

Nearly all of the suspects had prior criminal histories.  They've been lodged in the St. Joseph County jail.
