It kind of all caught up to Detroit last night in its 5-to-4 loss at Colorado. The Red Wings were playing their third road game in four nights and continue to battle a bunch of injuries. The defeat snapped Detroit’s six game road winning streak. The Avalanche had to hang on for the win, nearly surrendering a 4-to-0 lead.
Goalie Jimmy Howard was replaced 14 minutes into the game after giving up 4 goals on ten shots. Joey MacDonald took over and stopped 11 of 12 shots.
MacDonald was called up from Grand Rapids after Chris Osgood yesterday had sports hernia surgery and is expected to be out six to eight weeks. The Red Wings rest up now until Friday when they play at Columbus to finish up a 5-game trip.
