WINNEBAGO COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) - A man from Fremont is due in court August 8th in a 2009 traffic crash that killed an unborn child.
22-year-old Joshua Ozment was charged Monday in Winnebago County with negligent homicide.
Authorities said Ozment’s car was speeding when it crossed the center line on a curve, and it collided head-on with an oncoming car by Emily Kiecker. She was five-and-a-half months’ pregnant, and her baby died in the crash.
It happened on Winnebago County Trunk “H” in the town of Wolf River.
District Attorney Christian Gossett said the two-year delay in filing charges was due to a long process in reconstructing the crash, and a lengthy process to get toxicology test results.
Also, Gossett said he had to research laws dealing with the death of unborn children.
