ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WKZO) -- A teenager from the Dorr area is dead and Allegan County Deputies are sorting out the facts that led to his death to help the prosecutor determine how or if to charge the driver who struck him.
It happened last evening along 142nd Ave. just west of Dorr, near 20th Street just before 8. Witnesses told deputies that the 17-year-old on the bike was east bound and apparently veered over into the west bound lane, but say the driver of the Red SUV should have had enough time to react and stop. The driver had apparently been drinking, but it’s not clear how much.
Tests are being conducted to determine just how intoxicated the driver was at the time. The boy reportedly died on the way to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. No names have been released.
