ALLEGAN COUNTY.MI (WKZO) -- We have heard of cases of Animal Hoarding before, a few dozen strays collected by a well-intentioned animal lover who thought they could provide them with a home, only to have it get out of hand. This is something different.
Allegan County Deputies and Animal Control Officers moved on a couple breeding Pomeranians and other small dogs in Cheshire Township, on the southern border of Allegan County. They found 350 of them kept in cages, living in their own filth, some of them needing immediate medical attention.
Volunteers from Wishbone Animal Rescue joined the cleaning and recovery operation, which was more than county staff could handle on their own. The owners have been cooperative, and will relinquish the dogs to county control for adoption.
