The Red Wings had their chances last night atNashvillebut the Predators prevailed, winning 3-to-2 in Game One of their first round Stanley Cup playoff series.
Detroit outshot Nashville 37-to-26. Predator’s goalie Pekka Rinne stopped 35 of the 37 shots he faced in the victory. Henrik Zetterberg and Tomas Holmstrom each scored on the power play for Detroit. Jimmy Howard allowed all three goals on 26 shots in the defeat.
The injury bug bit the Red Wings again last night when center Darren Helm was cut on the right wrist in the first period by a Predator’s skate blade. Helm didn’t return and was taken to the hospital for surgery. There was no word on his status for Game 2 tomorrow night in Nashville. Helm was playing in his first game since suffering a strained left knee on March 17th
