PLAINWELL, MI (WKZO) -- Everybody says they seemed like a perfectly happy loving couple. Jeffrey Witt and Amy Hartman Kortokrax weren’t married, but they had lived together in the house on Grant St. in Plainwell for years, and appeared to be happy. Now he has been charged with strangling her to death in bed.
He called 9-1-1 early Thursday morning, and said he had tried CPR and so did EMT’s but the 38-year-old could not be revived. The autopsy found handprints on her neck and head trauma. Her 17-year-old son says he heard them talking loudly earlier, but said they were planning a Florida Vacation and friends all said they seemed happy.
The 45-year-old Witt is charged with open murder and is being held without bond.
