BRONSON, MI (WTVB) - There was an arson fire early today in Branch County. That word from Bronson Fire Chief Brent Wilber, who said the blaze at 412 Bawden Road in Bronson Township destroyed a long time vacant two story farm house.
According to Wilber, a passerby called the fire into 9-1-1 around 1:30 this morning and told them the structure was fully engulfed in flames. Firemen protected a large barn located south of the house owned by Robert Greenfield of Bronson, who had no insurance on the property.
Wilber said since it’s a case of arson, a reward of up to $5,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for setting the fire. Anyone with information should contact the Branch County Sheriff’s Department at 278-2325. He said they were able to gather some evidence at the scene, but they still need the public’s assistance.
Wilber added that although the home was vacant, firemen are placed at risk and the owner suffered the property loss.
