REDFORD (WKZO) -- President Obama is weighing in on the raging controversy over labor union rights in Michigan.

Speaking at a suburban Detroit auto facility, the President said so-called right-to-work laws just give workers the opportunity to "work for less money."  Obama argued that unions have helped create a "stronger middle class and a stronger America."

Republican state lawmakers are on the verge of approving aggressive new right-to-work legislation in a state with a deep labor tradition.  GOP Governor Rick Snyder vows to sign the new law.
