The Monday night matchup of division leaders turned into a blowout at Foxboro where the New England Patriots trounced the Houston Texans 42-to-14. The Patriots scored on their first three possessions and never looked back while improving to 10-and-3. Houston still holds the AFC’s best record at 11-and-2. The Lion’s 5-game losing streak going forward to Sunday’s game at Arizona includes injury question marks for two more starters.
Detroit coach Jim Schwartz said yesterday he’s still waiting for word on the status of defensive tackle Nick Fairley and tight end Brandon Pettigrew, who were hurt in Sunday night’s loss at Green Bay.
Fairley suffered a shoulder injury toward the end of the game while Pettigrew had to leave in the first quarter and didn’t return because of an ankle injury.
