Battle Creek, MI (WKZO) -- We now know why a Molotov cocktail attack at two locations in Van Buren County failed to produce any serious fires or explosions. Instead of using glass bottles that break on impact, the fire bomber used plastic bottles, which simply bounced off their targets and melted wherever they landed.
One was tossed on top of an SUV at the Car Connection on Red Arrow and three more at the White Pines Trailer Park, where they had the potential to destroy homes and cause deaths.
The state’s Operation Heat Arson Hotline offers a standing $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of any arsonist.
