, MI (WKZO) -- Thanks to the educated nose of a K-9 officer, a 33-year-old Albion man who may be responsible for more than one burglary is in custody this morning, waiting for formal charges later today.
Albion Public Safety got a call from a homeowner on Lombard St. that she and her husband had been awakened in their bedroom by a burglar going through their belongings. They reacted and he fled the home. The K-9 tracked the suspect to a home a few blocks away on Sydenham. They got a warrant and arrested two occupants, letting one go after questioning. They also recovered items stolen during the burglary on Lombard and possibly from other homes.
Chief Scott Kipp says their suspect entered the home on Lombard by finding the key the homeowners kept hidden near the garage back door.
