UNDATED (WTVB) - The latest gauge on the health of the west Michigan economy is in, and there has been a bump in the road. Dr. Brian Long’s monthly study of the economic indicators from local manufacturers showed some economic indicators going slightly negative for the first time in a while.

He says it’s nothing to be concerned about.  He says the national numbers from their larger survey continue to be strong.  He says the biggest news is the continued drop in unemployment, which fell half a percent in one month statewide.

He says 2012 is shaping up to be a bounce back year, but he says our recovery could come to a screeching halt if Europe doesn’t sort out its debt problems. He says we have left having the worst jobless figures behind, the next goal should be to drop to the national average, and then slip below it.
