Number-11 Michigan nailed 14 three-pointers last night, overcame a seven point halftime deficit and outscored Northwestern 18-to-6 in overtime to outlast the Wildcats 67-to-55 in Evanston. The Wolverines fourth straight win keeps them right near the top in the Big Ten with an 11-and-4 conference record, which is tied for second place with Ohio State.

League leading Michigan State, at 11-and-3, plays tonight at Minnesota. Freshman point guard Trey Burke had a game-high 19 points last night for Michigan while Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped with 14 and Stu Douglass added 12 points.

Michigan put up more than 3 dozen triples against the Wildcats and Coach John Beilein said Northwestern’s zone left the wolverines no choice but to stay with the 3-point shot. 

Michigan’s next game is at home Saturday night against Purdue.

Tonight in the Mid-American Conference, Western Michigan is at home against Ball State.
