BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO) -- They were long-time friends and roommates but something must have boiled over because detectives say that 52-year-old Robert Curtis Nelson beat 51-year-old John George to death Tuesday.
He reportedly used a baseball bat on his roommate at their home on Sharon Ave. in Pennfield Township. Police got a call from a man at Silver Star Veteran’s Apartments that Nelson was at his place and that he had confessed to the assault. It took officers a while to persuade Nelson to surrender, but he eventually did. Nelson is expected to be formally charged with open murder this afternoon.
