The Red Wings six-game winning streak was snapped with a 2-to-1 loss to the Blackhawks in Chicago last night. Valtteri Filppula scored the lone goal forDetroiton a power play in the first period. Goalie Jimmy Howard returned to the net for the first time since breaking his finger earlier this month and made 27 saves, while Danny Cleary was back in the Red Wing’s lineup after missing five games with a knee injury.
Tomorrow night, Detroit will shoot for its 24th straight home victory when it plays the Vancouver Canucks at Joe Louis Arena. Meanwhile, Red Wing’s center Pavel Datsyuk could miss at least two weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee yesterday. According to Wings coach Mike Babcock, Datsyuk had fragments removed now so he would have an opportunity to be back at 100-percent before the playoffs.
Detroit has also re-acquired defenseman Kyle Quincey from the Tampa Bay Lightening as part of a three team deal with the Colorado Avalanche, giving up a minor-league defenseman and a first-round pick in the 2012 draft.
