COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Branch County deputies say a pair of Saturday crashes appear to have been caused by icy roads, and perhaps inexperienced drivers.
The first occurred just before 3PM on Fremont Road near the Indiana State Line in California Township when a car driven by 18-year-old Makala Longardner of Montgomery left the road way, hit several stumps and flipped. She wasn’t seriously injured, but two passengers were. Eighteen -year-old Joshua Davis of Edon, Ohio had to be pried out of the wreckage. He was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Seventeen-year-old Kari Good of Fremont, Indiana was taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County. None of the occupants were wearing seat belts.
Soon after that crash, 16-year-old Danielle Wachowicz of Coldwater was on the same road, Fremont, near Lester Road in Algansee Township when she lost control on the icy roadway, partly due to blowing snow and rolled her car over in a ditch. She was also taken to the Community Health Center, but with minor injuries.
