ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WKZO)  -- Fire crews say it was a volunteer firefighter who happened to be in the right place at the right time saved a teenager’s life yesterday. The 17-year-old girl slid off 130th St. near Hopkins in Allegan County, hit a guardrail and flipped over into the Rabbit River.

Ed Wamhauf says the car submerged and the teen driver was able to unbuckle herself and find an air pocket in the car until he and 2 high school seniors who joined him, could force open a door.  He reached in a hand and told her she was going to have to go under the water to escape. She did it and was rescued.  The young girl, Allie Teed suffered mild hypothermia but will be just fine.
