COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - There won’t be any new Branch County Commissioners sitting on the County Board next year and in 2014, but there will be fewer of them. Sparked by re-apportionment and the 2010 census, the county decided to reduce the number of commissioners from eight to five. After the shakeout from the August primary, incumbents Rod Olney, Jon Houtz, and Randall Hazelbaker faced no opposition yesterday. The remaining two incumbents, also Republicans, were re-elected for two year terms. Don Vrablic defeated Democrat Victoria Brown 2301-to-1188 while Board Chairman Dale Swift beat independent Louie Uhrig 2532-to-1104.
