The finalists for Major League Baseball’s top awards were announced last night and no surprise thatDetroitthird baseman Miguel Cabrera is a finalist to be named Most Valuable Player in the American League. 

Tiger’s pitcher Justin Verlander is a finalist for the A-L Cy Young Award. Verlander won both the AL Cy Young and MVP awards last season.  Cabrera can become the first Tiger’s hitter to win the MVP since Hank Greenberg in 1940.

The MVP winner will be revealed a week from tonight while the recipient of the Cy Young award will be announced next Wednesday.
