ATHENS, MI (WKZO) -- The newest member of the Athens Area Board of Education in Calhoun County will definitely bring a unique perspective to the board.
High School Senior Eric McClure is the district’s newest trustee. He won a 4-year term on Tuesday, by being the top vote getter in a three way race for two seats, coming out ahead of two incumbents.
The 18-year-old McClure says he plans to recues himself in some student discipline matters, especially when he knows the student, but should be able to bring his own experience and views to the board’s discussion on most issues. He says that’s why he ran, to show that youngsters should have some say in the institutions that affect their lives.
