There was never a doubt who was going to win the American League Rookie of the Year award. Now Mike Trout has his sights set on a much larger prize, A-L MVP, although Tiger’s third baseman Miguel Cabrera is still the favorite to take home that honor.

The Los Angeles Angels center fielder Trout and Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper were  named the Jackie  Robinson Award winners as the top rookies in the American and National League, respectively, as voted on by members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. The 21-year-old Trout became the 18th unanimous rookie of the year choice.

The AL and NL Cy Young Award winners will be revealed tomorrow with the Most Valuable Player Awards to be announced on Thursday.
