KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO) -- One man is dead two critically injured and several others hospitalized after a freak accident on the U.S. 131 Business Loop north of Kalamazoo.
It began when a car containing three off-duty members of The Pride Ambulance Staff returning to Kalamazoo went off the curve into the median just south of North Westnedge at about 3:16 in the morning, ejecting one occupant, 23-year old Trevor Stuck, an off-duty paramedic from Richland. He was the lone fatality.
An off-duty Kalamazoo County Deputy and a nurse who had just gotten off her shift at Bronson stopped to lend assistance. That’s when a second car went off the same curve at the same spot and rolled thru the first crash scene striking some of the victims of the first crash and the two who had stopped to help.
An autopsy is planned for this week on Trevor Stuck to try to determine if he died from the initial crash or the second one. Two other women are listed in critical condition and three others are listed in stable condition.
Some are being treated at Borgess, some at Bronson. Accident investigators worked into the evening to try and sort out what happened and when. It’s under investigation and charges could result.
