OTTAWA COUNTY, MI (WKZO) -- Funeral services are set for the victim of a hit and run accident in Ottawa County and the two people believed responsible for his death, have been formally charged.
Lt. Steve Kempker with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department believes that 22-year-old Moly Phongsuvang and 26-year-old Jeramie Collins were racing when Joshua Owens tried to cross the street in front of them and was struck by both cars. Owens was dead at the scene.
Kempker says a pizza-delivery man who had heard a description of the cars broke the case open. He found them and reported them.
The two suspects have been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, a 5-year felony. They also suspect they were drunk but can’t prove it because it took a while to track them down.
Visitation for Owens will be held at Lakeshore Memorial Services from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Real Life Fellowship in Holland.
