LANSING (WKZO) -- Several laws have been passed to increase penalties against bridge card users who abuse the system.
Tomorrow, the House Regulatory Reform Committee will take up legislation that would crack down on Merchants who allow Bridge Card holders to use the food program to buy alcohol or lottery tickets.
West Michigan Republican Roger Victory of Hudsonville says it’s another way to make sure the program is used only for nutritional foods.
He says it also gives merchants who break the rules, an unfair advantage.
The Legislation still has a long way to go before it may become law, and the Retailers Association reportedly may be lobbying to modify it.
