LANSING, MI (WTVB) - The new International Trade Crossing connecting Detroit to Windsor, Ontario is one step closer to construction. A Presidential Permit to build the bridge was approved by the government after extensive work by the U.S. State Department.
Officials believe the new crossing will serve the nation's interest for several reasons including job creation and an increase in trade. Michigan Governor Rick Snyder said Friday the project is quote "all about jobs for today and tomorrow."
It is estimated that 12-thousand jobs will be created for the construction of the bridge while another 31-thousand jobs will be created to support the project.
